Detail InformationEdit

The Abwinden-Asten Power Station was built on the Danube in the years 1976 to 1979.
This power plant has nine horizontal shaft Kaplan bulb turbines which are generating clean power from renewable hydropower on the right bank of the Danube. On the left bank you´ll find the weir system.
As a result of the construction of the Abwinden-Asten power plant the harbors of Upper Austria´s capital Linz have become fully navigable even in low water.
Newly created biotopes in the reservoir area provide a habitat for a varied fauna and flora that is best explored within relaxed walks.
