A planned capital city which was built from scratch during the 1980s, Abuja is located at the centre of Nigeria. A beautiful city featuring an excellent roadway network and modern Nigerian architecture developed over a rolling terrain, Abuja is also surprisingly wealthy and expensive as per African standards. Mostly made up of mid-range and a few tall structures, the Abuja skyline displays several modern landmarks like the Millennium Tower, the Aso Rock, NNPC Towers, National Library, Millennium Park, National Mosque, the Abuja Stadium and the Nigerian Presidential Complex.
Home to several parks and green areas, Abuja, with several patches of rain forests eventually falls within the Guinean Forest Savannah mosaic areas of the West African sub-region. With heavy and frequent rainfall from March to November every year, the hilly and mountainous Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of Abuja City display atypical tropical wet and dry climate. Served by the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja can also be reached by road from Lagos, Benin, Kano and Port Harcourt.
