Majorda Beach is a beautiful beach that has a lot of palm groves. Some of the most famous hotels and resorts of Goa are found here and thus it is quite a popular place for a holiday. This south Goa beach also has a number of restaurants and beach shacks that serve up tasty dishes from the cuisine of Goa, Europe and India. Majorda is also the place where the Jesuits discovered the best toddy of Goa who used it to leaven the bread. Even today the people of Majorda are known to be the best bakers of Goa as they were the first to know the art of baking European breads.

In Majorda village there is a Mae De Deus Temple which was built here in the end of the 16th century. According to one legend, a wooden box with the image of Mother of God was laid under cornerstone of the Temple. Earlier in Majorda village there was a Hindu Temple which was dedicated to the Great Mother – Mamay. Nowadays, local citizens of Majorda village are celebrating two holidays of Mother of God: the first one is celebrated on May, 5 and the second one (Boa Morte festival) is celebrated on the first Sunday of October.
