Kangra is one of the most picturesque district of Himachal Pradesh, and is extremely popular for its art, crafts and temples. Kangra is idyllically located between the Dhauladhar range and the Shivalik range of mountains. The ancient Kangra Fort, Brajeshwari Temple, Snow-fed lakes and lots of scenic views are the main attraction of this region. The International Himalayan Festival held here is a major tourist attraction. The climate of Kangra remains pleasant for most part of the year. Summers (March to June) are the ideal months for sight seeing as the sky is clear and the weather cool. Winters (October to February) are very cold and ideal for honeymoon. Snowfall also occurs during the month of December and January. Monsoons (July to September) are not the best time to visit Kangra as rain lashes the area and road blocks and landslides are common occurrence.

By Train : The nearest broad gauge railway station to Kangra is at Pathankot placed at a distance of about 90 km from Kangra. Taxi services are available from Pathankot to Kangra at a fatre of about Rs 1,000.
