Kromeriz is situated on of the river Morava, amidst the fertile fields of the Hana region. The town is mentioned as early as 1110, when the foundation of the Union with the representatives of the Roman-Catholic church were laid.
In 1777, the town with its chateau and its beautiful parks became a residence of the bishops of Olomouc. The following development of the town was in influenced to a certain extent by the year 1848, when the session of the Reichstag took place here in order to work out the constitution for all the nations in the Habsburg monarchy. The archbishop’s chateau, the Kvetna (Flower) Garden and the Podzamecka garden have been included in the UNESCO list.
