Shankarpur is a tourist destination that is located in the state of West Bengal, in the district of Purba Mendinipur. The beach town is a fast growing place and it is attracting people from across the country. The beaches are clean and relatively untouched by tourism. The entire stretch of beach is dotted with many casuarina trees. The waters are calm for most of the year and this is makes it ideal for swimming. There are several restaurants that serve excellent varieties of sea food as well. You can also visit the beach of Mandar Mani that is located three kilometers away from the place. This is a virtually deserted beach and can be reached on foot. The Digha Beach is also located near the town of Shankarpur and this can be visited as a day trip. Digha also possesses long clean beaches that are often empty. You can also purchase some of the conch shells that are sold on the beach as souvenirs. Shankarpur is a perfect place for sunbathing and engaging in activities such as volleyball. There are a few fishing villages that can be seen in the region and these might be worth visiting as well.

By Air : The nearest airport is located in the city of Kolkata and this is the only feasible option for travelers who are planning to arrive by air. The airport is one of the most important ones in the country and it is well connected to several Indian cities. Regular flights are available from places such as Chennai, Kolkata, New Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Guwahati and Bagdogra. Taxis are plentiful and they can be hired outside the airport. They charge a base rate of Rs 7 per kilometer.

By Train : The town of Digha has the nearest railway junction and few trains from Howrah pass through this place. Train tickets are affordable and this is the easiest mode of transport. Tickets have to be booked well in advance. Second class seats from Howrah to Digha cost around Rs 75.

By BUS : Direct buses are available from the city of Kolkata and they depart on a daily basis from Dharamatala Bus Terminus. A/C buses are also available and this is the best option.

By Taxi : Taxis and Auto rickshaws are easily available for moving about in the city.
