Junnar is a city that is located in the Pune District of the state of Maharashtra. This is a historical city and there are many interesting places to visit here. Shivneri Fort, which is the place of birth of the Chatrapathi Shivaji, who was a Maratha Chieftain, is also located nearby. The fort is an extremely popular place among the locals. Junnar is known for many Ganesh decorations, during the festival season. The decorations in the place are often compared with Pune and Mumbai. Junnar is surrounded by greenery on all sides and there are many picnic spots that are located in and around the city. Some of the main sites are the Manikdoh and Vadaj. There are a few dams that are located in the place as well. The Naneghat Caves are also an interesting place to visit, and this location is very popular among the tourists. The place is famous for its numerous cave temples. There are around 200 of these temples that can be seen in the area. These have been cut out of individual rocks and are generally based on four main hills that can be located nearby. The Lenyadri Caves are the most famous of these and there are 30-40 cave temples in this place. Junnar experiences tropical conditions and the climate is similar to that of Pune. Summer temperatures are high and can be uncomfortable for those who are not used to the heat. The monsoon season gets certain amount of rainfall. Winters are also dry and mild and this is a good time to visit Junnar.

Junnar is a city with thousands of years of history in the Pune district of the Indian state of Maharashtra.The Junnar hill, situated at a small place known as Junnar(birthplace of great Indian warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji) in Maharashtra homes a cluster of ancient Buddhist caves. Belonging to the period between 2nd century BCE to the 3rd century CE, the Junnar caves due to their construction and architecture, attract the tourists, Buddhists and archaeologists.
