Eventually, the village of Farellones became a popular destination for skiers as the first ski lift of this area was built on its slopes. As one of the largest skiing destinations in South America, Farellones at an elevation of 7,972 feet above mean sea level is located at a distance of 36 kms from the Chilean capital city of Santiago. As far as the tourist infrastructure in Farellones is concerned, there are small hotels and departments which are available for rent. The culinary supply of foodstuff is varied, however, there is a supermarket with fast food in the El Parador building .
