The Morro de Arica or nose of Arica is a hill coast , which is about 130 m in height, located south of the urban area of Arica, in the Region of Arica and Parinacota in the north of Chile. Is the greatest touristic and symbolic of the city. It was declared a National Monument on October 6 of 1971.
The hill offers a panoramic view of the city of Arica and the beaches of the Pacific Ocean. At the top is a square with different monuments and a balcony. The esplanade is the Historical Museum of Arms and Arica, near which there are three strong. There he developed the Battle of Arica, on June 7th of 1880, battle mythical and symbolic of the Pacific War and that sealed their occupation by Chile and its subsequent annexation to the Chilean territory, which became official in 1929.
