Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in the Jalpaiguri district of the state of West Bengal. It is located along the eastern foothills of the Himalayan Mountain range. The park has distinct varieties of flora and fauna. Some of the animals that are found in the park are one horned rhinoceros, Bengal tigers, sambar deer, and spotted deer, barking deer, wild pig, hog deer and bison. There a many species of birds that are present here as well and these include many varieties of eagles such as crested eagle and fishing eagle. One can also see the Indian hornbill, Bengal florican, jungle fowl, pea fowl and patridges in the park. The park has a significant elephant population as well. Elephant rides are the most important activity in the park and this is extremely popular among the visitors. You can go into the depths of the jungle and it can be a phenomenal experience. Safaris are also available in the park and these are a good way to see the length and breadth of the place. You can also visit the Gorumara National Park that is situated nearby. Visiting the ruins of an old fort, which is situated inside the Chilapata Forest, is also an option. The climatic conditions of the wildlife sanctuary can be classified as tropical and there are three main seasons that can be experienced here.

Jaldapara National Park is a national park situated at the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas in Alipurduar Sub-Division of Jalpaiguri district in West Bengal and on the bank of the Torsa River. A prominent must-see place in Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary is the Fort of Nal King. Boasting of an incredible historical and archeological importance, the fort was built during the Gupta Empire and is an excellent memoir of the glorious bygone era. Today, it is the playground for leopards, snakes and other animals. Another distinctive feature of the forest is that it comprises of a unique type of trees that bleed like humans. Located just few meters outside the broken gate of the old fort, the trees are believed to be 100-200 years old. The trees emit a fluid that is blood-like in color and density. According to the locals, such trees are not found anywhere else in the world. One of the most thrilling ways to explore the mystical beauty of the Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary is with the adventurous elephant ride. The safari is sure to be an exciting one, extending sights of rhino in a muddy pond, herd of elephants walking majestically or deer running here and there. You can also indulge in jeep safari, a good way to explore the bliss of nature. By Air : The Bagdogra Airport is the closest airport and this is the most feasible option for travelers who are planning to arrive by air. The place is well connected to some Indian cities such as New Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai and Kolkata. International flights are available from places such as Bangkok and Paro as well. Taxis are available from the airport and you can hire these to reach the place. They cost around Rs 7 per kilometer for the trip.

By Train : The nearest railway is situated at Madarihat, which is located around d 7 kilometers away. However, only passenger trains stop here and the better option would be the Jalpiguri station that has better connectivity to several Indian cities. Regular trains are available from Chennai, Kolkata and New Delhi. Second class tickets from New Delhi cost around Rs 440.
