Hindupur is a big town that is located in the Ananthapur District in the State of Andhra Pradesh. Hindupur gets its name from one of its prior ruler called Murari Rao who named it after his father. The town is located in the banks of a river and it is situated at a height of 2037 feet. It is scenic town and the River Penner flows along the town. Hindupur is located in the South West part of Andhra Pradesh and is close to Bangalore city. The town is also accessible from Mysore, Tirupathi, Hyderabad and Chennai. The town also has a substantial Muslim population and there are many mosques that are located in the town. Hindupur is known for its jewellery business and many gold merchants can be found in the town of Hindupur. Hindupur is a busy business center. It has good infrastructure and transportation is easy. There are a few hotels and lodges that are available in Hindupur and tourism is developing. There is a small village near the town called Lepakshi and there are many buildings that are an example of the Vijayanagar style of architecture. This is a good place to visit for architecture buffs and those who are interested in monuments. Droughts are very common in the Hindupur region, especially during the summer. Summers are characterized by intense and it is not a good time to visit for those who are not used to the conditions. Temperatures are extreme in Hindupur and the climate has many desert characteristics. Hindupur does not get sufficient rainfall during the monsoon season. Overall, the conditions are generally dry. Hindupur is a very popular tourist destination located in Anantpur district of Andhra Pradesh. It is well connected with other major cities of state by road and rail. The town is believed to be named after a king Hindurao. Hindupur is famous among tourists for the various interesting places here. Mig church grounds, iron market yard and industrial estate are some of the famous places of Hindupur. The famous food courts of VD road are paradise for vegetarians because of the large variety and finger licking taste of vegetarian food served here. The people of Hindupur are fond of entertainment and movies and thus there are many theatres in the town. Some of the famous theatres are Gurunath theatres, Balaji talkies, Vishnu theatre and Lakshmi theatre. Kamasalpet in Hindupur is very popular for traditional goldsmiths and jewellers. Tourists most often buy gold jewellery and silk sarees from here as memoir of Hindupur. The town of Hindupur is quite well known for the spinning mills here. The silk saris and iron industry of Hindupur are widely popular in the state. The Mudireddy Palli silk sarees of Hindupur are very popular as they look like Kanchipuram sarees however they are made out of low quality silk. The tourists who come to Hindupur need not worry about the accommodation and food as there are many modern hotels and restaurants. Hindupur is also the border state between Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

By Air : The nearest airport is located at Bangalore at a distance of 70 km from the town. The Devanahalli Airport has many international domestic flights that arrive frequently. For those who are arriving by air this is the best option. Taxis are available from the Bangalore Airport to the town. Prepaid taxis charge around Rs 1500 for the trip. A/C taxis are available as well and they are a good option during the summer months. Hyderabad is situated around 460 km from the town and Chennai is situated around 440 km from Hindupur. These are also good options for those who are arriving by air.

By Train : Hindupur Railway Station is located in the South Western Zone and the Rajdhani express passes through the town of Hindupur. Hindupur is also connected with the rest of the State and a few trains pass through Hindupur. Some of the main trains that pass through the Hindupur station are Karnataka Express, Udyan Express, Lokmanya Tilak Express, Guntur- Yesvantpur Express and Jaipur-Bangalore Express. Trains are an easy way to travel and they are a good option. Tickets have to be booked in advance as many people travel on these trains.

By Bus : Buses are also available from the other parts of the State and they are a cheaper option.
