Detail InformationEdit

Archduchess Magdalena, the sister of Archduke Ferdinand II, had the sovereign’s Sparberegg castle replaced by a convent.
The complex was designed by Giovanni Lucchese. In 1611 and 1691 it was given its trademark plastered facade. The renaissance portal with its image of the Visitation dates back to 1570.
The convent was closed in 1783 and most of its works of art were destroyed. Since 1912 the former convent has been used as a monastery by an order of nuns.
