The church was built in 1190 and extended in 1500 and 1725. In 1820/21 it was rebuilt and consecrated by Bishop Galura of Brixen. The colorful paintings at the ceiling and the altar piece were made by Leopold Puellacher. The oldest of the four bells bear the date 1482.
