Detail InformationEdit

The church you see today has two aisles with sexpartite rib vaults and was erected by master builder Oswald Bürckel from Burghausen. The mighty tower stand 73 meters tall and rises from the northern wall. St Mary´s possesses noticeable and precious items that draw much appreciative comment from visitors. The left wall of the Presbytery is adorned with a fresco painting that depicts the Day of Judgement.
The wooden sculpture of Mary´s Death is the only remnant of a Gothic style wing altar. Among the most noticeable and striking features of the Church are the sculptures from Johann Franz Schwanthaler (dating from 1710) that flank the central columns and the Statue of Madonna holding the Child (1460).
Above the main portal you´ll find a carved wooden inscription commemorating the death of the last Count of Neukirchen and Untereitzing. The inscriptions of Jakob du Puich in the ambulatory pews and the four tombstones that are installed next to the side altars give evidence of the notable people that have owned the Castle of Neukirchen in the course of history.
