Detail InformationEdit

Thirty years have passed since ´Garnet Yeti´ David Gufler, discovered his passion for the World of minerals. Nothing but a hobby at the very beginning, but it became his life-task very soon. Equipped with all the necessary tools, he heads regularly for the foot of the Granatkogelwand mountain range – a famous place of discovery for garnets not far from the village of Obergurgl.
Today, the fruits of his untiring search for minerals smarten the Silbertalalm Alpine hut. The minerals exhibited in our show-cases make our house a real museum. A visit to us is well worth it!
Besides rock samples covered with garnets, you will see minerals from all over the world which our “garnet yeti” could easily trade at any mineral fair. One of his collector’s items, the biggest garnet ever found in Europe (at the Granatenkogel) (SEE PICTURE) – will be exhibited at the ´Silbertal´ mountain inn from July through to September. On Mondays, mineral fans have the opportunity to buy one of our collector’s items and to get to know the famous ´Garnet Yeti´ himself. You’ll get first-hand information and will be introduced to the secrets of the Ötztal garnets.
