Detail InformationEdit

The most distinguishing feature of Wenns is the Parish Church with its 66 m high steeple. The original Gothic church, which had been sacrificed in 1288 burned down in 1564, only the sacristy and the choir remained to which a Baroque extension was added. In 1792 the church received its artistic finish by the painter Franz Altmutter. The church was last renovated between 1981 and 1984. Patron saints: John the Baptist and John the Evangelist
If you visit this village at Christmas time you can admire the beautiful Christmas crib, carved by the local artist Sepp Mathoi, in front of the church. Precious cribs are to be found in many houses as well, as Wenns boasts the World´s oldest Christmas crib association and still maintains this old tradition.
