Detail InformationEdit
The timing of the parish foundation is not known, but the first mention was in 1300. Between 1569 and 1731, Eibenstein was a branch of the parish Drossendorf. After 1730 under Abbot Nicholas Zandt the church restored and a new parsonage was built, the parish was supervised by Geras of pastoral care. The parish church of St. Giles is on a hill above the river, opposite the castle Eibenstein. From the street it is only accessible via a steep, axially applied to the facade tower staircase.
The core of the Romanesque, Gothic hall church with a baroque altered west tower is surrounded by a cemetery with geböschter wall. The presented, Baroque, western tower three storeys with chamfered edges between sloping gable dates from the second third of the 18th Century, is divided by pilasters and has a Faschen and onion dome on a south-facing gables and watches galleried staircase. The simple rectangular nave and the choir are drawn essentially Romanesque. The vestry growing north of the choir is provided with a renewed Putzpilastergliederung.
