Detail InformationEdit

There has been a lime tree on this location that was visited by large numbers of people who were attracted to it by the fame of a niche holding a Madonna Painting. In 1753 a wooden Chapel was erected on the site. When the wood of the Chapel was in a dilapidated state, the foundation stone for the Chapel you see today was laid in 1835. It was completed and consecrated in the year 1843 by Abbot Thomas of Kremsmünster. In 1861 an altar was installed in the Chapel with the miraculous image of the Virgin Mary as altarpiece. The image that once adorned the niche of the lime tree, depicting the Virgin Mary Dolorous, can be admired here in the Chapel as well.
