Detail InformationEdit

When Emperor Joseph II decreed the Tolerance Patent in 1781, Thening became the thriving hub of the Evangelical Christians in Upper Austria.
The building of a new Church was agreed upon as early as in 1783. However, it took almost another hundred years until the foundation stone was laid. These days, all evangelical Christians for miles around belonged to the parish congregation of Thening. A memorable incident for the village was the arrival of the Zillertal emigrants of Tirol in 1837.
The Parish Church is dedicated to Saint Valentine and boasts a net vaulted sanctuary and an arched nave. The Church´s interior is of neo Gothic style.
