Detail InformationEdit

Achleiten Castle is situated on the last fringes of a glacial moraine in the hamlet of Achleiten.
The castle first appeared in historical documents 1189 as ancestral seat of the Achleuthner Dynasty with Bernhard von Achleithen.
Over the centuries, several notable people have owned or been linked with Achleiten Castle. Held by the Sinzendorffer Dynasty for a long time, the castle was granted to the Earls of Thun in 1692. From 1816 to 1880, Achleiten Castle was owned by Hehenberg Dynasty and Planck Family and was then sold to the Families of Boschan and Baron Teuffenstein.
Linz-based factory owner Theurer purchased the castle in 1982. Today´s owner is his daughter Sissy Max-Theurer, Olympic Gold Medallist in Dressage (Moscow 1986), who lives in the castle together with her family. The current owners have paid much efforts to reconstruct and refurbish the historical building with love for the detail.
In former times, the castle comprised a cheese dairy and a farmstead with own hunting grounds named Achleiten Estate which is now the property of engineer Hubert and Rosa Winkler.
