Detail InformationEdit

The town hall of Retz, Lower Austria is based on a Gothic chapel, whose conversion to a halt due to financial reasons and was later completed by the City Council as a building, the home of a town hall and a chapel. The town hall with the Lady Chapel was built in Grätzel-like on the higher ground west of the main square. The original Gothic building was later changed early modern and baroque.
The tall, hull-like building has on its east side a slightly retracted, closed polygonal choir with a flat and stepped buttresses. On the north side there are two arched cellar doors and a door to the tower staircase. The south side has the arched portal chapel from the 16th Century with a baroque cartouche and the outside stairs to the upper floor. The local rectangular portal is also from the 16th Century and bears the lintel bearing arms in relief two lions.
The projecting tower on the north side is divided by Kordongesimse vierzonig and tied-off by a mighty dome from the beginning of the 17th Completed over a century on consoles supported walkway.
