Detail InformationEdit

From the graveyard there are uninterrupted panoramic views of the Ennstal Mountains, Hochkonig Peak, the foothills of the Alps, and beyond. The Parish Church nestles among the eastern outskirts of the parish and the village and was erected in the 13th century in Gothic style and dedicates to Saint Stephen. The rib vaults and the columns of the choir as well as the right entrance to the vestry are superb examples of Gothic style architecture.
Among the most noticeable and striking architectural features of the Church are a glass painting from the year 1494 and the high altarpiece that was created by the Dutch painter Anthoni Schoonjans. Around the year 1720 the Church was extended to its present three bay form by Carlone. The Church´s most precious possession is the splendid Baroque high altar, but, unfortunately the name of the artist who conceived the design is unknown. Statues of Saint Leopold and Saint Florian flank the high altar. The Saint Joseph´s altar in the left aisle is a Baroque masterpiece as well, lavishly adorned with martyr saints. The Saint Mary´s altar dates from around 1900. The 200 years old watch works, a functioning pendulum clock, is wound up daily.
