Detail InformationEdit

The oldest church in Oberwart is the former Catholic Parish Church consecrated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.
The actually Roman church has an impressive western spire, medieval remains of walls, a Roman window and Gothic wall paintings. The High Altar of the late-Baroque church shows the picture of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary by Stephan Dorfmeister. A cool, modern anteroom leads you to the new Parish Church consecrated to the Ascension of Christ, which was opened in 1969 and planned by Günter Domenig.
