Detail InformationEdit

Würting Castle is one of the rare and well-preserved moated castles within Upper Austria.
Offenhausen lies directly on the main road leading to Wels-Pichl-Kematen. The beautiful moated castle in Renaissance style is situated right at the southern entrance to the village. A deep and wide trench filled with water surrounds the castle. Originally five majestic towers were overlooking the three-story building but then, in the course of the centuries, the east-facing tower was destroyed.
You enter the castle by crossing a large bridge and passing the giant portal made of bricks. Behind the door you find a wide open hall leading to the backside courtyard. The precious Chapel is located in the southeast wing. In the southwest of the courtyard you can admire the Clock and Barometer wing which is not connected to the side wings but flanked by a separate round tower.
In the interior of this lovely castle can be found a beautiful banqueting hall featuring valuable oil paintings on the coffered ceiling. A perfect place to relax and unwind is the pond embedded in the well-kept park. Here you can still see the ancient fortification wall that surrounded the entire park and the castle. A truly unique highlight not to be missed!
Moated Würting Castle is closed due to renovation works.
