The Vishwa Shanti Stupa is one of the Eight Shanti Stupas that were built all around India. It is set beside the Gitai Mandir. It was a dream of Nichidatsu Fujii who was fondly called by Gandhiji as Fujii Guruji. It is believed that Fujii Guruji had arrived in Wardha from Japan in 1983 and had met Gandhiji with the purpose of building these Stupas in India. The Stupa serves as a place of worship for the Buddhist Community. It is large and white in colour and has statues of Buddha mounted on the Stupa facing all four directions. The Stupa is said to illustrate the life history of Gautam Buddha. It is also a symbol of world peace. In the vicinity of the Stupa, there is a small Japanese Buddhist temple which is built by a large park.

Vishwa Shanti Stupa stands tall and grand as a symbol of world peace. Honorable Nichidatsu Fujii, the founding preceptor of ‘Nippozan Myohoji’ met Gandhiji in 1933 at Wardha and became his life-long admirer. Gandhiji, too, impressed by his infinite clarity of purpose and dedication to peace, named him Fujii Guruji. When Fujii Guruji visited Wardha in 1983, he expressed his wish to build a “Vishwa Shanti Stupa” in Wardha. He himself selected the site in the Gitai campus. After the demise of Fujii Guruji, Rev. Imaiiji took over as head of “Japan Bharat Sarvodaya Mitrata Sngh.” Under the Chairmnship of Ramkrishna Bajaj, “Fujii Guruji Memorial Trust” was established. The foundation stone of “Vishwa Shanti Stupa” was laid in 1989. It was inaugurated by the President of India, Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma in 1993.

Air : The Nearest International Airport is Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport, Nagpur, which is around 74 km from the city of Wardha, roughly two hour drive from Wardha. It is well connected to major cities like Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Delhi, Goa, Indore, Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune and Srinagar via Jet Lite, Air India, Go Air, Indigo and Jet Airways. Taxis are available at the airport and they can be hired to reach the place.
