Chikhaldara Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the Amravati District of the state of Maharashtra. It is a popular destination for many people in the surrounding areas and it makes for an interesting day trip. The place is home to many species of wildlife and birds. The place is also home to many coffee plantations and it is the only one in the district. Home of the wild animals that can be seen in the Chikhaldara are wild boars, panthers, a few species of bears and sambar deer and a few other animals. Wild dogs can also be seen in the region. There are many places that are located nearby that can be visited as well. Some of them are the Narnala Fort, Melghat Tiger Reserve, Gavilgad Fort, Nehru Botanical Gardens, a lake called as Semodah and the Tribal Museum. The two forts are worth visiting, especially for those who are interested in architecture. There are many sites that offer breathtaking views of the Chikhaldara Wildlife Sanctuary and some of them are Prospect Point, Hurricane Point and Devi Point. There are a few good places to stay near the Chikhaldara Wildlife Sanctuary as well. MTDC Resorts are a good place to stay and they arrange forest safaris as well.The place experiences different temperatures with conditions ranging from moderate heat in the summer season to cold conditions during the winter months. Monsoon seasons last for four months in this region and rainfall is extensive. The time between October to March is generally considered as the best time to visit the Chikhaldara Wildlife Sanctuary.

By Air : The nearest airport is at Nagpur, located about 250 km away. The airport is well connected by flights to Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad and other cities.

By Train : The nearest major rail head is at Badnera and Amravati, about 110 km away. Trains from Pune, Akola, Kolhapur, Jodhpur and Mumbai halt at the station. One can hire taxi or board state-run buses to reach Chikhaldara.

By BUS : Chikhaldara Wildlife Sanctuary is well connected by buses to many towns including Nagpur, Amravati, Akola, Wardha and many other cities in the state. Buses are the cheapest option and state run buses depart frequently from all these cities.

By Taxi : Taxis and Auto rickshaws are easily available for moving about in the city.
