Due to its extreme dryness and glacial nature it is regarded as one of the harshest habitats. It is an extraordinary patch of landmass surrounded by thick layers of snow.
There are numerous tourist attractions and interesting places to explore in the McMurdo Dry Valleys of Antarctica. The lakes at this place have high salt levels and the valley is renowned for the salinity of its waters. Major portions of the valley are restricted for visitors but still offer some of the best tourist attractions such as wide variety of beautiful flora and fauna. It is the best place to explore on foot and provides some of the best hiking trails and plenty of photo opportunities.
