Chhindwara, in Madhya Pradesh is one of the big towns in the Satpura range. Located on the plateau, the place has lush green surroundings, with rivers and sagaun trees. The town forms one of the southern districts of Madhya Pradesh. Surrounded by dense forest, the place is rich in flora and fauna. Besides, it is considered to be one among the coolest places in Madhya Pradesh during summer season and is visited by many people. A large population of Chhindwara is of tribes, which majority of them speaks Gondi and Hindi mixed with Marathi. A peaceful town with rich culture, Chhindwara has a lot of tourist places. Some of the attractions that can be visited include Patalkot, Tamia, Tribal Museum, Chota Mahadev Cave, Devgarh Fort and many more. In fact, the place is home of many well-known temples and mosques. Many cultural functions and festivals are celebrated in Chhindwara district. Some of the most popular festivals are Pola, Bhujalia, Meghnath and Akhadi.

The ancient history of Chhindwara has no significant evidence. This is entirely according to the research works of archeologists based on the findings of sculptures, manuscripts and coins in this region. This region was mainly under the rule of three clans viz. the Vakataks, the Rashtrakoots and the Gonds.
