Dholavira is an ancient city that is located in the state of Gujarat and it is one of the oldest archeological sites that are located in the country. Dholavira is located in the Kutchh Desert Sanctuary in an island that is called Khadir Bet. Some of the items that have been excavated in the area are pots, animal bones, terra cota items, seals, silver and even gold items. The layout or the plan of the entire site has been done with immense sophistication and a large water tank that is located in the place is an example of this. Another site has been found outside the walls of the fortified city and most of the buildings that have been built here have been made from stone, as opposed to brick like the other Harappan sites. Dholavira experiences dry desert weather conditions and the place is hot for many months of the year, especially during the summer season. During the monsoon months, the entire place gets flooded due to the rain. Winters are much colder and the temperatures drop rapidly in the night, and they can drop to around the freezing point.
