Another prominent feature of Dhanushkodi that draws many tourists to this place is the mysterious Adam’s Bridge, otherwise known as the Ram Sethu. This is a bridge made entirely of limestone that barely connects the Indian mainland with the Sri Lankan mainland. This bridge has high religious significance as followers of the Hindu faith believe that the bridge was built by Lord Rama in his quest to reach the land of Lanka, where Ravana is said to have reigned. Dhanushkodi was the place where Ram Visited and held pooja , later on this place was not inhabitated by any human population for a very long time and on the dooms day that had destroyed the town of Dhanushkodi , a very huge tide of several meter height engulfed this town , the remnanats of destroyed town and railway station still stands here as a symbol of nostolgia .
