Chandannagar is a small city that is located in the Hooghly district of the state of West Bengal. The city is a former French colony and it is situated close to the city of Kolkata. The town has its own unique set of characteristics and it is an interesting place to visit. There are several tourist spots that can be seen in and around the town and these include picnic spots, temples, churches and museums. The Chandannagar Strand is a popular tourist site and this is situated on the banks of the River Ganga. The place is line with trees and the walkway is well paved. Many tourists visit the place to engage in activities such as walking and one can experience a cool breeze from the river. The Chandannagar Museum is an old museum and this is worth the visit. The museum has an interesting collection antiques that belong to the colonial period and these include a few cannons and some pieces rare wood furniture. The 200 year old Sacred Heart Church and the ruins of the Church of St Louis are worth visiting. The Nandaulal Temple is an ancient religious site and you can see several wall paintings and sculptures in the place. The climatic conditions of the city of Chandannagar are similar to the climate of the city of Kolkata.

By Air : The Kolkata Airport serves the city of Chandannagar and this is situated at a distance of around 40 kilometers from the city. The airport is well connected to around 25 cities across the length and breadth of the country. Regular flights are available from all the metros and other places such as Guwahati, Dibrugarh and Ahmadabad, Bagdogra and Imphal. International flights from places such as Frankfurt, Dubai and Singapore are also available. Taxis are obtainable at the airport and they charge around Rs 7 per kilometer.

By Train : The city has a small railway station that is well connected to Howrah. Regular trains are available and this is a good option. Few express trains also halt at the station. Autos and taxis can be hired from the station to the city.

By BUS : Chandannagar does not have a bus stand. Nearest option is Kolkata.

By Taxi : Auto rickshaws are easily available for moving about in the city.
