Nagarjunsagar dam is considered to be one of the biggest man made reservoirs in the world. Nagarjunakonda is an island that is located in the reservoir and there are many Buddhist inscriptions and carvings that can be seen in the village. The island is famous for its historical importance and can be reached only by boats. Nandikonda is a town that was located in the banks of the River Krishna. It was submerged during the construction of the dam and the entire population was shifted to the hill colony. The reservoir of the Nagarjunsagar Dam is surrounded by forests and many people travel down the river to take in the beautiful scenery. The place has extreme weather conditions and rainfall is also extensive during the monsoon season, so much so that the dam overflows during this time and it is a beautiful sight. There are many interesting places to see in the nearby areas and the Nagarjunsagar Dam is a good place to visit during the winter season. Hill Colony can be reached using the steam boat service.

Nagarjuna Sagar Dam is a dam that is located in the Nalgonda district in the state of Andhra Pradesh. It is built over the Krishana River. Water bodies have always fascinated Man for a long time. A small village in the Nalgonda district has the Nagarjuna Sagar Dam and is is very popular. Strangely this is not a natural water body like a lake or ocean or a pond. It is a Dam, a manmade dam that makes the village extremely popular. Nagarjuna Sagar Dam was viewed as an extremely critical infrastructure project when it was built. Even today it is extremely important to the agriculturists of the neighbouring lands. Funnily the dam is able to attract a great number of tourists from all over the world owing to its marvellous construction and the splendid scenery surrounding it.Nagarjuna Sagar Dam has become an important tourist Picnic spot.
