Detail InformationEdit

“The State Library of Western Australia is located within the building known as the Alexander Library Building, in the Cultural Centre of Perth, Western Australia. Like all government authorities, the name changes over time, so the identity was for a long time ‘Library and Information Service of Western Australia (LISWA)’. The name was changed in 2002 to the ‘State Library of Western Australia’. The library is an agency within the Department of Culture and Arts.
The building, and the various agencies are often conflated by users and authorities – the Alexander building houses the State Library of Western Australia, and it in turn has the J.S. Battye Library of West Australian History and shares the building with the State Records Office of Western Australia.”
