San Isidro is a smart residential area north of the city. Many of its grand houses and buildings date back to the 18th century and were the homes of Argentina’s aristocracy. San Isidro has excellent golf courses, a lively nautical community and one of the biggest racecourses in America. Visitors should explore the centre by foot, including the neo-Gothic cathedral and the Juan Martín Pueyrredón History Museum. Eat at a restaurant on the Costanera, with spectacular views across the River Plate.
