Konispol is the southernmost town in Albania. It sits one kilometer away from the Albanian-Greek border. The municipality consists of the town Konispol and the village Çiflik. The town’s main interests are agriculture and viticulture. The city is the center of the Cham Albanian community and holds in its center a memorial to their expulsion from Greece after World War II. The area was part of the ancient region of Epirus. In 1943 Konispol became the battleground of a fierce conflict between German-Cham collaborationist units and the Albanian resistance.
