A tripartite metropolis, Khartoum is sprawled around the confluence of Blue and White Nile rivers. Featuring a hot desert climate where just the two months of July and August witness a significant amount of precipitation, Khartoum, where temperatures may at times exceed 53 degrees Celsius, is one of the hottest major cities in the World. Divided by the Niles, the Sudanese capital city of Khartoum presents a thriving economy which has witnessed significant development due to the recently acquired oil wealth.
This seat of the Sudanese government, Khartoum is the largest of the three cities in the country. Actually made out from the amalgamation of three different cities spread around the Nile and its two arms, Khartoum is mostly laid out in a grid form. Renowned for its music scene and shopping opportunities along with a good sprinkling of restaurants, Khartoum is developing a new aviation facility at Omdurman which will replace the Khartoum International Airport, serving as the main gateway of the country.
