Benaulim Beach is one of the fairly undiscovered beaches of Goa. Despite of its being a fishing beach, the domestic tourists are unaware of it. However, the beach gets crowded on certain occasions. Benaulim Beach of Goa gets crowded in the evenings, when the travellers come to the site for a walk. Far away from the hustle and bustle of the city, the beach enables the tourists to relax and rejuvenate their spirits. The beach also witnesses a huge crowd during the weekends. The Bull Fights From early October to late May, from 4 pm onwards, one can enjoy bull fights at Benaulim. With the Konkani music playing, the bullfights are usually take place in an old rice field with no fences or barricades just outside the village.

Legend has it that this is the place where an arrow shot by Lord Parshuram, sixth incarnation of Vishnu landed. The arrow shifted back the hills hence forming the Konkan. The place was hence named Banavli (ban means arrow) and later distorted to Benaulim by Portuguese. The place is also special for Christians as it’s the birth place of the venerable Father Joseph Vaz. Where in the world do you find strings of mythology attached to a beach but Benaulim is one beach that does.
