Tripoli or “”Tri-city”” is basically three cities in one, which is the second largest city in North Lebanon. This popular town belongs to the crusaders from past. Built on a rocky peninsula on the East Mediterranean coast, it has the second-largest port in the country. The history of Tripoli dates back till the 7th century B.C. and the places of interests of this town reveal the past and history of the city.
There are many popular attractions of Tripoli, including, The Citadel, Church of St. John of the Pilgrims Mount, The Great Mosque, Al-Qartâwiyat Madrassa and the Taynâl Mosque. One of the most striking features of the city’s skyline is The Red Castle or the Assaraya al-Hamara, which is worth visiting. Gurgi Mosques, a fascinating religious site is an excellent example of intricate tilework and design. Some of the important attractions of the town include Lions’ Tower, ‘Izz ed-Dîne, Khân Al-Khayyatin, Khân Al-Misriyyîn and many more.
