The traditional city of Mongu serves as the capital of the western province of Zambia. Inhibited by the Lozi people, the city is renowned for its dry lands and flood plains. The region surrounding the city is blessed with luscious landscapes that provide tourists with excellent photography opportunities. Mongu is famous for producing some of the best mangoes in the country.
The city’s thriving fishing industry is renowned throughout Zambia. Tiger fish found in this region in particular is very popular amongst locals as well as visitors. One of the major attractions for travelers in Mongu is they get to participate in tasks like producing carpet and basket weaving along with the local craftsmen. The vibrant markets located across the city are renowned for selling some of the best handicrafts and souvenirs.
