With an economy dependent on agriculture, oil, industry and tourism, Syria is presently facing serious problems and challenges due to civil unrest within the country. Bordered by Turkey, Iraq, Jordan, Israel and Lebanon, Syria is one of the larger states of the Middle East region. Along with a short coastline to the east providing Latakia and Tartous sea-ports along the Mediterranean Sea, Syria is effectively served by three international airport and two international train connections from Tehran-Aleppo-Damascus in Iran and Istanbul-Aleppo in Turkey.
Offering several scenic tours and hikes, Syrian landscape generally consists of hot springs, forests, a few beautiful beaches near Latakia Town alongside a picturesque and mountainous coastline. A country where Arabic is the official language, Syria is surprisingly pleasant where you can find many people at least speak rudimentary English as well. With easy and cheap internet access which is common across cities and internet cafes, Syria hosts many fairs and festivals to attract your attention.
