Dili, the capital city of Timor Leste serves as the country’s chief port and commercial center. The city offers visitors with numerous sightseeing places having historical and esthetic importance. The University of East Timor is also located in the city of Dili. Some of the most beautiful beaches in the country are located along the coast of Dili. Cristo Rei Beach in particular is one of the top beaches in Dili renowned for offering wide ranging attractions such as soft sands, clear azure waters and stunning ocean views.
The waters surrounding the beaches are rich in marine life and offer excellent diving and snorkeling opportunities. Other important tourist places of interest in Dili include the Portuguese style fortress located in Vemasse and the beautifully built twin-towered church in Laleia. Besides this, major tourist attractions in Dili include the bronze statue of Jesus, Comarca and Palacio das Cincas government buildings.
