Ouidah is the idle destination for travelers interested in historical or religious side of the country. An active commercial city of the region Ouidah was the centre of the slave trade in the past. Traditional religion known as voodoo is widely practiced in this region and cathedral, python temple and a museum is housed, which describes a lot about this city. The slave route in Ouidah is the original route used by slaves from downtown to the coast where they were loaded on ships that led to the new World. The Temple of Pythons is one of the main attractions of Ouidah. Sacred Forest of Kpassè is a museum that houses a variety of vestiges of African deities.
