Tourism potential in Chad is still unexplored and a relatively minor industry, where years of civil war has literally scared away any possible foreign investments. The topography divides the country into three distinct zones comprising of the Sahara desert to the north, the Sudanese savannah on the south and the Sahelian belt at the centre of the country. Largely featuring a desert climate, landlocked Chad is 1,060 kilometers from the nearest sea-port. Lake Chad is located within the Chad basin after which this country is named, occupies an immensely large area spread over 330,000 square kilometers.
Apart from Lake Chad, some of the other major tourist attractions of this central African country include Tibesti Mountains, the Bahr Salamat Faunal Reserve, the Aouk, Goz Beida, Manda, Zakouma national parks, and the Musee National Museum at N’Djamena. The capital city of N’Djamena which is the main tourist hub of Chad offers several hotels and restaurants for the comfort of the visiting guests.
