The Public Theater may be a the big apple town arts organization supported because the poet Workshop in 1954 by Joseph Papp, with the intention of showcasing the works of industrious playwrights and performers. it’s headquartered at 425 Lafayette Street within the former Astor Library within the East Village section of Lower Manhattan. The venue opened in 1967, mounting the World-premiere production of the musical HAIR as its initial show. it’s LED by creative Director Oskar Eustis and administrator Saint Patrick Willingham.
