Zapotlanejo may be a city and municipality within the Mexican state of Jalisco. Consistent with the 2005 census, there have been fifty five,827 inhabitants within the municipality. The municipality incorporates a territorial extension of 643.02 km2.
Zapotlanejo may be a hybrid word, 0.5 Nahuatl and 0.5 Spanish. The Nahuatl word “tzapotlán” (place of thick toads) consists of 2 morphemes: “zapotl” (toad) and “tlan” (place). Additionally, the name of the municipality includes the Spanish ending indicating section “ejo.”
