The Egg could be a humanistic discipline venue in Albany, New York. Named for the form it resembles, it had been designed by Harrison & Abramovitz as a part of the New York State Plaza project, and engineered between 1966 and 1978. It’s placed within the northeast corner of The Plaza. It’s become associate degree icon of latest York’s Capital District, owing to its uncommon form and central location. The Egg is slightly inclined, and incorporates a little pedestal on that it seems to take a seat. In fact, the building is control by a stem that goes down six stories into the Plaza.
Attached to the present stem could be a concrete girdle that surrounds The Egg, sanctioning it to retain its form and transmission its weight to the pedestal. The Egg homes 2 amphitheatres, the 450-seat Lewis A. Swyer Theatre and therefore the 982-seat Kitty Carlisle Hart Theatre. It attracts several playacting acts to Albany, as well as music, dance, and ancient stage shows as varied as Henry Rollins, the Zucchini Brothers, Emmylou Harris, the ny town Ballet, Perú Negro, Demetri Martin, they may Be Giants, hedgehog Tree and Hot Tuna.
