Rainey Memorial Gates may be a historic entrance gate placed at the side of the ny Zoological Park within the borough, New York, New York. It had been inbuilt 1934 and made of graven bronze within the artistic movement vogue. It had been designed by noted sculptor Paul Manship (1885-1966), United Nations agency worked on them beginning in 1926. It stands as a memorial to noted game hunter Paul James Rainey (1877-1923).
The gates feature unreal animal and plants together with the figure of a sitting lion. Low bronze screens flank the gate and connect it to the granite gatekeepers lodges. The gates area unit flat-topped by twenty six ton slabs of granite. It’s a brand new royal house town selected landmark and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.
