Plaza Colón is that the main plaza within the town of Mayagüez, Puerto RICO Act. This plaza and its fountain commemorate the adventurer Christopher Columbus, whose name in Spanish was Cristóbal Colón. The plaza presents the standard urban relationship in Puerto RICO Act with the church, currently Nuestra Señora Diamond State la Candelaria Cathedral on one finish of the plaza and therefore the “Alcaldia” or Mayagüez government building within the alternative. Its location was selected in 1760 near the town creation.
