The Ensemble Theatre, placed within the heart of midtown at 3535 Main Street in Houston, Texas, is that the largest African-American skilled theatre company within the us that produces plays in-house and owns its own facility. The Ensemble Theatre could be a non-profit organization based by George Hawkins in 1976 as a moving company that rehearsed in an exceedingly church basement.
In 2003, the corporate was awarded $250,000 from the Houston Endowment opposition., with that it retired its original capital campaign debt and created some enhancements to the power.
