Lee could be a city in Berkshire County, Massachusetts, u. S.. It’s a part of the Pittsfield, Massachusetts Metropolitan applied math space. Lee, which has the villages of South and East Lee, is an element of The Berkshires playground. Early industries enclosed agriculture and lumbering, with lime created in kilns. Operated by water power from the Housatonic River, mills created textiles and wire. However craft became the principal business, with the primary manufacturing plant, known as the Willow Mill, in-built 1806 at South Lee by prophet Church. The Columbia Mill was established in 1827, and would be the primary to produce 100 percent groundwood paper to The ny Times. By 1857, there have been twenty five paper mills in Lee. The Smith Paper Company discovered a way to manufacture paper exclusively from pulp in 1867, and thru the decennary was the most important producer of paper within the country. Today, Lee has one tiny craft facility in hand by chalcedony Specialty Papers,Inc. The plant produces specialty paper. Schweitzer-Mauduit proclaimed in 2007 that the previous Smith Paper Company mills would go on 2008, putt nearly one hundred seventy individuals out of labor.
